Kit Spotlight: DZOFilm Vespid Cine Prime Lense Set
Updated: Aug 24
If you're looking to give your next project a true cinematic feel, our DZOFilm Vespid Prime Lens Set is well worth looking at. These full-frame cine lenses have become a favourite with independent filmmakers, commercial production companies and content creators thanks to their combination of beautiful image quality, compact design and professional handling. The lenses cover full-frame and Vista Vision sensors (if you’re lucky enough to be using one), feature a consistent physical design across the range, and are available in native PL and EF mounts, along with Sony E mount and L mount (Blackmagic and Panasonic)
Cost Effective
For their price, we don’t think you can beat the quality. Full professional quality lenses, at a fraction of the cost of Cooke’s or Arri’s. If you’ve got a £500k rental budget, maybe you can splurge on something else, but for the rest of us these do everything you could need and have a lovely character. We tested a load of other sets and these came out on top.
Range of Focal Lengths
The set comprises of 12mm, 21mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm and 70mm lenses, all with a T2.1 aperture except the 12mm which is still very fast for its focal length, at T2.8
They Go to 12
12mm is seriously wide. The 12mm DZO Vespid is our second most requested lens for its unique wide look. It’s the perfect lens to rent as you really don’t always need it, but when you do, there’s no substitute.
Cinematic Images Without the Bulk
Unlike many traditional cinema lenses, the Vespid Primes are lightweight and compact, making them ideal for handheld work, gimbals and smaller productions. Despite their size, they deliver the smooth focus control, matched colour and consistent look you'd expect from professional cine glass and are T2.1 across the set except the 12mm. Their uniform front diameter and gear positions also make lens changes faster when using follow focus systems and matte boxes.
Built for Filmmaking
Designed specifically for cinema production, the Vespid lenses feature long focus throws for precise manual focusing, minimal focus breathing and de-clicked apertures. The result is smooth, repeatable focus pulls and a consistent look across every focal length—ideal for narrative films, branded content and commercial work.
