If you’re short on time, just check out our Location Lighting Package that has everything you will need as a starting point.

Filming outdoors might be perfect as a location, but it also brings one common challenge: power. Whether you're shooting on Brighton Beach, in the South Downs or at a remote Sussex location, access to mains electricity isn't always possible.

With the right equipment and a little planning, you can build a reliable battery-powered lighting setup that keeps your production moving.

Choose the Right Portable Power Station

A portable power station is one of the easiest ways to run professional lighting on location. At Cine Hire, we stock both the DJI Power 1000 Mini and DJI Power 2000, providing dependable power for LED lighting, camera batteries, monitors and other essential kit.

For smaller interview setups, the DJI Power 1000 is often ideal, while larger productions or longer shooting days benefit from the additional capacity and output of the DJI Power 2000.

Consider V-Mount Powered Lighting

Not every shoot needs a large power station. Many modern LED fixtures can run directly from V-Mount batteries, making them perfect for lightweight, mobile productions.

Lights such as the Aputure F22C can be powered using V-Mount batteries, giving you complete freedom to work without mains power. We stock V-Mount batteries and chargers, making it easy to build a compact, fully portable lighting kit.

Make Transport Easier

Outdoor shoots often involve carrying lights, stands, batteries and accessories across beaches, parks or large locations. A Magliner cart makes transporting equipment much quicker and reduces the number of trips between your vehicle and set.

Whether you're moving a full lighting package or just trying to stay organised, a Magliner is one of those pieces of kit that quickly proves its worth on location. We stock junior carts and senior carts, backstage and standard versions.

Don't Forget Extension Cables

A simple extension cable can make a huge difference on location. Having to reposition your power station for a light if you’ve got a load of other things plugged in too is just a pain in the arse.

Be Prepared for the Weather

We are in England, it rains. The Aputure LS 1200x is a popular choice for outdoor filming thanks to its powerful output and IP65 weather-resistant rating. Even with weather-resistant equipment, it's always worth planning for a sudden shower. We also stock a variety of tarps that can quickly cover lights, power stations and other equipment, while you wait for the rain to pass.

Lighting Hire in Brighton

Whether you're filming a commercial, interview or documentary in Brighton or anywhere across Sussex, Cine Hire can supply everything you need for a reliable battery-powered lighting setup. From the DJI Power 1000 and DJI Power 2000 to V-Mount batteries, the Aputure F22C, Aputure LS 1200x, Magliner carts and essential accessories, we'll help you build the right package for your next location shoot.
